Topic Dog Boards / Health / Alison, how's Kylie?

Alison,

How's Kylie doing after her eye op, is all going well? Sure everyone would like an update. (Apologies if I've missed a post anywhere.)

Hi Marina
Thanks for your concern.:)
Her eye (gland) is still quite swollen, but hopefully will go down soon, apparently when the op was caried out she had some damaged tissue within her eye so that was repaired at the same time, it's this that's causing 70% of the swelling. But because of the swelling the gland sticks out still but only a little bit. We have got to go back next week to see surgeon, as he may want to do op again:eek:

Overall she is doing really well, she is coming in the house more but still sleeps outside, as she starts to get too warm after about 20mins in house. The only thing really is that when she is asked to sit (in the house not outside) she tends to wee a little bit, it's not every time just sometimes mainly when I'm trying to put lead on for walks?

I'm really chuffed with her, there's loads to tell but i will keep this reply short, otherwise i would still be typing at 10'O'clock tonight:D

So glad she's doing OK, hope she doesn't have to have another op - but even if she does, hopefully that will be end of it.

Sounds as if she knows she's fallen on her feet, and is not leading you too merry a dance to thank you.

Keep us posted of her progress.

Hi
I do hope she doesn't need another op, but it is uncomfortable as it is, so if the swelling doesn't go down then that's we've got to do.
She is getting on fine with bob aswell so that's good, they are now allowed together off leads, with no problems (under supervision).

We bought a harness for her which is brilliant so now I can take her for walks, before it was just hubby taking her. We are taking her out in car tomorrow as only place she has been so far in car is the vet's, and we don't want her associating car with vet's, funny thing is though she will not get in boot of car unless i'm in there first! lol Neighbours think i'm mad i get in the boot, she get's in then I get out.

Will keep you posted, we are back at vet's on thursday.

Just to keep you all updated:)
We went back to the vet's on Thursday and back again today. Kylie's eye drops have been changed as the swelling has still not gone down, hopefully the new drops will make a difference, got to go back in ten days and if it still hasn't gone down the surgeon is going to decide wether to try again or just remove the gland. At the moment the vet said it doesn't look hopeful and she will probably have to have another op, but giving the eye drops one last go.

Alison

Ps does anyone know where the thread about the lump in Bob's ear has gone, wanted to update that aswell, and can't find it anywhere:confused:
