Hi all
As most of you will know, Dizzy is our first Bitch pup (Dobe) and we have now reached a bit of a milestone :D She started her first season on the 18th Feb. So my question is probably a bit of a dippy one :D. How long before I start showing her again? During her heat I've not taken her out for the usual walks or to our ringcraft classes so by now we are both beguinning to crawl the walls a bit! We were due to go to an open this weekend but am dubious as to whether I should wait for another week just to be sure. Any advice would be great! :)
Cheers
Sharon :)

If she has read the books about what is normal (:D) then 4 weeks after the start of her season should be okay. :)

How do I say this nicely??? - She is all super model looks and her grey cells are an endagered species :D :D :D
Thanks for the tip though!

:D :D :D My showboy is the same! If he ever has a thought in his head it gets lost trying to find its way out, and dies of loneliness! :)

:D rofl :) - Are all show dogs the same??? Our Male hated it all so we stopped before we really started. He is really smart - we came to the conclusion that he got bored with the hanging about. Now Diz - She laps it all up!!! :D

Hi Sharon,

Do you have any local Romeos .... what I do with my girls is give them a bath and then take them out walking the day before the show, in a place where I know I will meet entire males (or arrange to meet a friend). If the males are wound up, I leave her another week - if they treat her as normal, I take her.

Hi M
Good thought - unfortunatly we seem to live in a girlie zone - not an entire male for miles and like most of the male species, they make themselves scarce when they are needed! Our lad was done just before Christmas and so has shown absolutely no interest at all, which is a good thing but you'd think he could help just a little bit :D . Anyway, we have decided that we'll keep her home from the show tomorrow and try next week. Her back end is definalty less swollen - almost back to normal so we'll start taking her out again this week..........Before I go completly bald!!
Cheers

when my dobe pup had her first season i pulled her out of her shows but kept her exercised (on the lead) by giving her jonstones deoderising tablets and a spray of bitch spray. she was no problem. i took her to a show 30 days after her season started and give her a good spray of the bitch spray and no dog looked near, even in the group judging (nose to tail). i am also told womens fem spray works really well!

In my most recent experience the girls will give her a good sniff as much as the boys do LOL, so it still might be worthwhile taking her out and seeing what the other dog reactions are.
