MY HUSBAND BROUGHT HOME TWO 4 WEEK OLD ROTTWEILER PUPS. THEY HAVE THE SAME MOM AND DAD. ONE IS CLASSIC, BLACK BODY WITH BROWN MARKINGS. WELL, THE OTHER ONE HAS A BROWN BODY WITH SOME BLACK MARKINGS HE IS LIKE A WHEAT COLOR. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THESE PUP TO BE PURE OR HAVE WE BEEN TAKEN. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO FEED THEM. I DON'T KNOW WHY HE TOOK THEM SO EARLY. PLEASE HELP!

Sorry to sound blunt, but how can you not know why your own husband was allowed to bring home two pups at such a young age. Surely you communicate! :)

Not one breeder with one ounce of integrity or responsibility would allow such young babies to be prized from the mother, unless she was seriously ill. If this was the case your husband would certainly have had to have been told because this could seriously affect the puppies.

I would say that the whole thing is much more than just dodgy. At four weeks, puppies need to be with the mother. I would be SERIOUSLY worried if I were you. You need to find out where exactly these puppies came from, why they are not there now, and get them to a vets pretty sharpish to make sure they are OK.

I am sorry I sound so harsh. I am not a breeder, just a lover, but EVERYONE knows that you never take a puppy at this age, (I am not even going to go into the problems of unknowledgable owners taking two puppies from the same litter) _from what sounds like a most dubious litter.

GET HELP NOW!

Your reply to this was exactly correct. I believe it is illegal to sell puppies before the age of 6 weeks anyway.

I don't think that, genetically, a pure-bred Rottweiler can have the colouring as described for the second pup. This sounds like a cross-breed puppy - and they should both be with their mother. The work that will be involved in rearing these pups successfully is going to be exhausting.

Its not illegal but it is highly immoral! If they have this much regard for their pups (the breeder) then I doubt if they are even what they say they are. Probably mongrels.

Hi
As everyone else has said, 4 weeks is just ridiculous
Anyway feeding them...get some good complete food, soak it well like porridge, they probably need building up a bit.Plenty of water at all times. I'd also feed them 4 times a day at equal intervals, but take them to the vet and get them checked over.
Obviously don't know the reason for your hubby bringing them home, perhaps he was rescuing them ??? as no responsible breeder would dream of letting them go at this age.Don't be too put off and resent the pups for their unfortunate circumstances, they will need lots of love...from you :)
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Guest, if I was you, I would name and shame the breeder, I think they have been really irresponsible, no good breeder would even think of letting such young puppies leave their mum, they need the mum to teach them "right from wrong" while they are young. I let mine go between 7 and a half and 8 weeks, depending if they were born mid week , or , weekends. I would also report them to the breed club. or maybe they are not members of any breed club, and are doing their bit of puppy farming, I would get them vet checked and give lots of love and attention to them, two puppies of the same age in any breed is very hard to rear even as older puppies, but in rotties, double the trouble. Good luck with toilet training them as this will be harder as well as they are far too young to even go out in your garden.

I agree the breeder should be named and shamed that is disgusting my pups don`t go till they are eight weeks and only then if they are eating like pigs and looking nice and chunky!

Everyone is right, that is WAY to early to let babies go! I have a yorkie we got at 6wks, which is also to early. I studdied a lot, and thought this was a little early, but the breeder assured me otherwise. I was already attached to the pup, as I had been going to see her when I could. I just loved her more and was very patient. And thats really all you can do at this point, unless your willing to give up the pups. Hope all goes well for you and your new babes:)

At four weeks old, I doubt if these poor babies are even weaned properly yet. Could the reason for letting them go so early be because they are not purebreds, and that will be obvious when they are 6-8 weeks. My five week old Dachs puppies are only just starting to look like Dachshunds unless you know the breed.
Get a Rottie breeder to take a look at them, then get onto trading standards (and the Kennel Club if they are registered.) If the person your husband got them off has other pups there, I would contact breed rescue (numbers for area available from the KC) and the RSPCA as well. This person needs shutting down and FAST. Even if there was a problem, and the mother wasnt feeding them, they STILL should be with the breeder, and not offloaded to someone.
Good luck with them.

I agree even if the mother wasn`t feeding them then it should be the breeder who is looking after them.
We once had to hand rear a litter and they wern`t ready to go until they were ten weeks old as they had some catching up to do. I think it`s terrible that their are people out ther who just don`t care about what happens to what they breed my pups are like children to me i keep in touch with them for the whole of there lives. please keep in touch and let us know how the babies are doing
