I have a ten month old rottie he keeps getting lumps on his body and joints x-rays say joints are ok, he has had biopsys on two of his lumps nothing was found the lumps seem to appear from nowhere and go down with in a few days to a week, Vets have no idea what they are. Also, lately, his back is sore and when you stroke him on it he sits down. Can any one help me with this as it does cause some discomfort to my dog.

Has the vet checked out the sore back?
If not take him back to get it checked out.
I have dachsies who are prone to back problems and this is how they normally start. Probably a bit unusual for a ten month rottie though.
Sorry can't help with the lumps, it doesn't sound like anything i've ever heard of, but i'm sure someone on here will be able to help you.
Good luck.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure the back problem is related to the lumps as he has some lumps on his back. he also has swollen knees at the moment and the lumps can come up pretty quickly (the one on his face came up in half a day and took a week to go down) He is also a very slow eater which is very unusual for a Rottie. one other thing I forgot to mention in my first post is that when the lumps come he also gets scabs in his ears which also become slightly swollen. Several vets have had a look and none have seen this type of thing before! I have now turned to the internet in the hope that someone on here may have heard of this type of thing before. many thanks in advance for any replies.

I own a weimaraner, the breed are very prone to getting fatty lumps& sebaceous cysts, and it seems more apparent in some lines. My bitch has one tiny lump on her flank skirt, I know two other weims who are covered in them.
Perhaps ring the breeder of your pup, and ask if he/she has heard or seen anything similar, or if any of her dogs have had a similar problems. A sebaceous cyst is a build up of fluid, they are unlikely to go down within a few days tho. Thats about all te help I can offer on this Im afraid tho.
As far as the back goes, has the dog done extra stenuous exercise or played rough recently?? He could of perhaps hurt himself& te pain is still there??
I would say definatley ring your breeder, as there may be some heredity element!
Keep us posted!

Thankyou for your responses, i have spoken to his breeder she said there is nothing hereditry and has heard nothing like it before. The back problem i think is to do with the lumps as he has got one on his back. Our dog is what you might call somewhat lazy (it's a rush to claim the sofa before he does) we have had the suggestion that it may be post vaccine associated arthritis which seems to fit
Many thanks.
