Topic Dog Boards / Health / POORLY HUSKIES :(

Hi Guys :)

Well the huskies are not well at all :(

I have noticed 2 of them over the last two days heaveing and bringing up yellow/whiteish mucas, another one keeps bringing his dry food back up whole, just found out Nushka has worms and very bad loose motions and to top it all off I got bit by one of them the other day while breaking up a fight between them, resulting to me having a huge bruise on my arm

Went to vets yesterday and they said they have some sort of bug so 3 of them had antibiotics jabs, Noroclav tablets and amoxicilin, and a handful of other things, not to mention Nushka dew claw is growing the wrong way round so it had to be clipped although the vet has advised me to have it removed :(

What a life.......................

Oh dear Heidi ...what a shame for you AND the mutts :(

Hope the antibiotics kick in soon and that Nushkas claw gets sorted ...email me if you feel you need to moan at someone :)

Melody

Sorry to hear they are ill again. Has the vet ruled out it being the same virus they had recently?
- By DOGS [gb] Date 11.03.03 10:18 UTC
Well I went to Lincoln a few weeks ago to visit my breeder with 2 of my dogs, the vet said that maybe they could have picked up something from there such as a foreign virus that they were not use to etc etc, I also took them a walk down the canal so maybe that could have something to do with it :(

I'll start by saying I don't have kennels or multiple dogs in residence, but perhaps you should ask other people with kennels what products they're using to clean the kennels etc You never know there may be some miracle product that'll solve all your problems....fingers crossed :)
Hope they're all better soon and pop some witch hazel on your bruise,
Julie :)

Just wanted to say I hope they do get better soon. :)
Can't u just keep the dew claw short instead of removing it, unless of course its getting caught on stuff then it might rip and be a bigger problem. :(

ttfn :)

Hi

the dew claw is growing the wrong way round ) .... like that if you now what i mean

vet trimmed it down but it is stil long and i have a horriable feeling she will rip it and that will really hurt

I use disenfectent to clean the kennels, and a jet wash, theres no plants in the garden just slabs for the dogs........ maybe it was the canal

In that case I would have the dewclaw removed you definately don't want her doing it her self.

ttfn :)

this was one of the reasons we warned you about taking poorly [recovering] dogs to a show, -their resitance is low and immunity not at its best, which puts them at risk!!!! -also keeps infections going,
also its part and parcel in owning dogs your going to show to have them in peak condition, not wormy with over grown nails, havent you been worming them regularly??? and clipping the nails back, it will all help them look a touch better when you do show them,
buy vets wormers, and if one dog has them id worm the whole lot, and again in a few months,
good luck in sorting them out,

HI Dizzy

Yes they have been wormed regular, thats why I cant understand how she has got them, i use drontal from the vets, although I dont clip the nails back as all the rest of the dogs claws are fine and so are Nushkas apart from the one on her back leg, the vet has clipped it back as much as possiable but it is still long, so it looks as though its going to be took out. :)

The dogs have all been fleaed and wormed this morning ( that was a long task :) ) so fingers crossed every thing should be ok

Hi Heidi - looks like you are going through a bit of a bad patch - poor you - and poor dogs!

What do you use to disinfect your kennels - it may just be that you need to "up" your disinfectant and use one that is specially designed for kennel use - I use one called "Parvocide" - I get it through a friend, from the Professional Choice people (they've got a website, I'm sure). It kills most doggy bugs and (she says, with fingers, toes & eyes crossed and touching wood - how difficult is it to do that & type:-) ) - we've not had any problems with our ever-growing crew!

Hope this helps

Regards

Margot
