We sadly lost our beautiful standard wire-haired Dachshund last month, and we’re absolutely heartbroken. Our home feels so empty without him, and we know we’d love to welcome another Dachshund into our lives.
Our boy was quite the barker—he would alert us to any noise or people coming to the door, though interestingly, he was quiet when outside. He was an excellent little watchdog.
We’re now considering a miniature wire-haired Dachshund, but we’re curious to hear from others about the differences between the mini and standard wires. In particular, we’re wondering:
Is there a noticeable difference in temperament between the two sizes?
Are minis generally more or less vocal?
Do you find any temperament differences between males and females?
We’d really appreciate hearing your experiences and what led you to choose one over the other. Thank you so much in advance for your insight!
