What a horrible end for a pet animal. I wonder what method they use to euthanise an animal which is to be used as a food source - shooting? The same nation that is so concerned about the quality of life for pedigree dog breeds!

Possibly electrocution; or careful use of a heavy stick to the back of the head.

Frankly, I no longer feel part of this world. It is beyond everything I hoped for and believed in.

This is the method used in zoos in this country when feeding the large snakes which need their prey to be still warm; of course feeding live prey to them is illegal so they're killed instantly immediately before being put in with the snake.

I suppose, *if* it follows properly legislated humane welfare regulations, and is supervised *at least* as well as abattoirs, and is open to regular inspection with the licences being withdrawn if the conditions are not met, it is better than the unwanted animals’ being sent, even sold, to fake rescues, as described in another current thread, where their fate is uncertain but probably cruel.

Perhaps it is time to question the keeping of carnivores in zoos, or even the existence of zoos themselves.

I don't have a problem with horses being shot to be pts at their own home when it is their time but not transported to strange place to do it.  using the body isn't offensive to me but taking them to strange place when injured enough to need to be pts is wrong on all levels.

small animals, aside from spare cockerels who the hell puts healthy small animals down? cockerels I get it, there are always more then can be homed but not the others.

I thought these days horses were euthanised by injection, not shot.  At least the ones I've known of were.  Either way, I could never let any of my pets be used as food for other animals once they'd passed away.   Just my own personal feelings.

its often kinder to have them shot.  its quicker and some horses have a fear of needles
