Mo needs a bath, if only to get to grips with his armpits!!  Problem is neither of us, or both, is able to get him into and especially out of the bath.   It would help if we had a walk in shower but we don't, so ..... I've booked him in with one of the groomers here in Bude on Tuesday afternoon next.   Now I being silly, but I'm wondering if I've done the right thing.   I'd have loved to have been there but that doesn't look possible, so have I done the right thing!!!

I've warned them that he's an escape artist (if he thinks it's necessary) but I'm still worried.  I suppose it's no worse then leaving him with the vet, but .....   Has anybody else felt like this, the first time at a groomers?

I worry everyone time with brooke .especially as she is older and wobbly on back legs.  She seems fine when I get her and no problem going in
As long as they have been grooming for a while and helpful if they know the breed as odd as that sounds

Sure Mo will love all the attention.

Mo was fine with his first trip to the groomers, even though the place was a zoo - far busier than it was when I was there to book him in.  There were at least 4 girls working on dogs with all the noise from blast driers.  He was done in an hour however (and they only charged me £30 which I didn't think at all bad).  I was amazed he coped with all that was going on but there was lots of panting going on and he hit the water bowl when we got home.  I'm not happy with his under-arm stains still but will have to have another go at that.   They said they took tons of fur off him (I'd warned them he was blowing his coat as he seems to do all the time!).  I hope he didn't clog up their drains.

He seems fine today with none of the horror stories some talk about!

I don't much care for the scent however and also I think I may have to try to find somewhere that's not quite so busy, if there will be a next time.

They really should know better than to put scent on a dog. Their sense of smell is many thousands oftimes more sensitive than ours, so if we can smell it then it'll be completely overwhelming for the dog; a bit like us being blinded by having very bright lights shone into our eyes for hours, or deafened with loud drums or trumpets blasting right by our ears. (One of our vets tore a client off a strip when they brought in their highly scented dog and suggested shge go home and wash the dog again to get rid of the smell, for the sake of the dog.) I'd suggest that next time you go you make it clear than scented products should not be used.

I’m glad all went well. I suppose one good thing about a busy place is that is shows that they do a good job. Perhaps, if there is a next time, you could ask to book him at a less busy time?

I think many groomers use a finishing scent (just like hairdressers automatically reach for the hair spray). You could always ask them not to use it on him. It must be rather horrid for a scent hound not only no longer to smell of himself, but to have an artificial scent enveloping him.

I hope he has settled back and found some clean! grass to roll in.

Glad all went well and he was "chilled"  as above less busy time and no scent applied a bit like as has been said hairdressers reach for spray.  Glad he did well is there a mobile groomer by you they are noramlly very good.
