Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Importing frozen semen

Hello

I am hoping to import frozen semen from France; could anyone advise on the best way to do this please? Apparently the lab in France doesn’t have the the appropriate flask to ship it in, just to make it slightly more complicated! If you have any idea on costs too that would be really helpful!  Thanks very much ????

I think I'd be asking one of the UK companies, like Fit & Fertile, for advice on the practicalities. I know the dog has to be fully pet passported, so I assume that's all in place? If the dog is still alive would it be easier to take your bitch over for a natural mating?

You might try UK Clone, a service I found via Switherland Bassets who do a lot of work using this company (I assume as their name is on their website).

If you are looking to do with with a French kennel, I'd be more inclined to go there for a natural mating.  JMO

Thanks - I hadn’t heard of them so will have a look. The stud dog sadly isn’t alive so that isn’t an option.

It is also important to consider the expertise of the clinic who will thaw the semen and time the insemination.  I have no affiliation with this clinic https://www.elitekennelfertility.com/ but I really like their approach and expertise.  You could also consider attending the clinic in France for the insemination.  Good luck!
