This may sound a bit daft, but when our pup is out playing happily and content in the garden i have noticed his hackles are up, this happens when he is running around crazy chasing balls and fetching things and generally having a good time. there could be nobody there to interact with him and this still happens. I have also noticed that when he takes his mad half hours they sometimes go up also, but the tail is wagging fast the tounge is hanging out and there is no dominant behaviour. is this just a puppy thing as he grows or is there something else i should look out for. He has never went for anybody in the household when he is like this, just wants to play.

My Great Dane did this aswell, when playing and out on a walk, up until about 5 1/2 months old. He showed no agression or anything either so I didn't worry about it :)
