Topic Dog Boards / General / Car crate for whippets

Looking for recommendations for a car crate (not cage) for a whippet please.

Do you mean a box with partly solid sides? Like Lintran? Are you worried about thin whippet legs sticking out of a regular cage/crate?

Personally I prefer tailgate guards and dog guard behind the seats, tailor made for the vehicle to make the most of available space. But, if it's a cage/crate you want then have a look at Lintran.

I liked my TransK9.  Have a look at their website. each one specific to a car make. also have a decent resale value if you swap the car
However i had a custom built tail guard in my new car (5 years ago) and it is much better. Gives them more room,

I can't afford one, but would highly recommend a TransK9. In the event of a crash, they are the safest for you dog.

I can see where you are coming from re a Whippet's legs and a normal wire crate, but just to say our girl has travelled in the crate I keep in the car since she came to us at 9 weeks, and has (everything x-d) never caught her legs through the bars.  However, I guess a solid sided crate would be better, provided you can afford one, and you use the car for a lot of travel with your Whippet?  Would a air travel crate cost less than the Lintrans etc?

Might this be suitable ...... quick search -

I wouldn’t ever get anything other than a mimsafe crate, it’s the only dog crate that is crash test certified, they are expensive but are the only things I will use in cars as they’re so good!

Thanks guys for all your suggestions, I have had a good look at everything suggested, I think my choice will be a tailgate
and guard behind seats, I tried my new puppy in a crate when she first  came, but she stressed out that much screaming all night
it upset my other dogs, since removing the crate she settled immediately, so thanks again for taking the time.
