Yesterday whilst out walking my 6 month old beagle, we were walking past this man's house who was in his garden working, Broxi as usual wanted to play with him as he does with everybody he meets. The man then said is that one of those beagle(things). I said yes he is. He then said his brother works with them, me thinking he was a trainer or a breeder said oh right what does he do. He said he works for a research company and they do all sort of experiments on them. This really p****d me of. He then said that his brother said they were the best breed to work on as you could do anything to them and they dont bother what happens to them. He then said you probably had to travel a bit to get him. I said yes we had to go to England to get him (me living in scotland). He then said said i could have got my brother to get you one but by the time they had finished with them it would probably have 2 heads. At this point i just turned and walked away. How could he just laugh and joke about animal cruelty. He said his brother worked for inveresk which is based in scotland. I am going to do a bit of research into this company to see what they get up to. But imagine telling somebody that their choice of dog was the best breed to experiment on. I will be avoiding walking past this guys house from now on.

I know what you mean, how horrid and cruel must this man be! If his brother works with animal testing and he seemed all for it, then they obviously did not have a very good upbringing when it comes to animals.
And yes Beagles are commonly used for testing, I'm not sure why they chose that breed, but I have seen undercover documentaries on it and it is really horrible to see them being badly treated!

David,
Sounds like that guy has been experimented on himself.

this is horrible but I bet that nasty man was talking out of his **** and was just trying to provoke a reaction. You did the best thing you could by walking away, let him get his sick kicks by teasing some other person
What a horrible person, try not to take any notice of the fool

Sadly i too have heard that beagles are chosen for laboratory work because of their natures; but even so it was not necessary to rub it in to you, a beagle owner !!! Stupid man!!! He must have a very sad life to say this. Makes me mad though...
Best wishes

I thought that was awful.
Those poor dogs. I have seen Beagles at our ring craft and they are so intelligent and lovely faces.
