Just wondering what breeders think about a problem a good friend of mine
is haveing and if any of you have been in a simular situation.

5 weeks ago a lady called this particular friend of mine asking for a male
pup as a potential stud for her female. It was explained that 4 pups of exellent
pedigree were at the kennel but was stressed although the dogs matched on
paper there was no way pup could be sold as a stud as he was to young and
unproven. The lady seemed very genuine and the weekend after came on a
5 hour journey to see pups.
At this time there were 3 pups not 4 one of them was sold earlier that week
but the best had been kept.
she was shown all the dogs at the kennels the dam and sire etc.
she saw all the kennels achevements and was more than happy with what she
saw. Without the slightest pressure she decided to take the youngest male
The breeder explained it was not registered yet as most of the litter were for
show homes and so most like to choose own names the lady saw copy of
eye test which was a litter screening and was told to test pup every 12 months
The puppy was microchipped and had had first vacc.
On paying for pup she was charged for pup + cost of vacc which she excepted
without a problem. On leaveing she was asked to call as soon as poss with
name for registering and told any problem call day or night.
8 days passed and she had not called so breeder called her she was very sharp
on the phone and said she wanted no correspondence when asked why she replied it was all in the recorded letter she had sent which she new had been signed for. This letter did turn up 5 days later which remains unopenened and
signed and dated on the back by the postman. Anyway she agreed to fax the
letter to the breeder. It was awful saying she had not recieved papers the pup
was infested with worms and had passed them to her other dogs that kennel
cough had broken out. She wanted price of pup + vacc +£150 travel cost+ £40
for crate and the pup would have to be picked up. The breeder who knows
100% the pup was well said she could return the pup with a full refund but
no other costs would be paid. kc reg was sent to her as soon as they returner
but in the meantime a form from small claims court has been sent.
This breeder who was top breeder for more than a decade is so upset why
would this lady be intent on causeing trouble like this.
I think its a set up any comments greatly apreciated

I would tell her to take a deep breath tell her not to worry and that she could also send a ltter recorded delivery jsut saying that in addition to our telephone call I am happy for you to bring the puppy back for a full refund.

then just leave it.. she may be trying to get a free puppy.
