Topic Dog Boards / Bring and Buy / Parson Russell puppy please

Hello Everyone, we are a young couple looking for a Parson Russell puppy to join our family.

Ideally, KC registered and would have parents that BOTH been KC registered and health checked and have certificates present. Broken or rough-coated would be fantastic.

We love outdoor activities and adventures. I work from home, so the puppy will be well looked after. We also have outdoor space.

Any recommendations of the breeders would be much appreciated!

Many thanks,
Theba and Diego Marando

Even if there are no Parson litters listed on here at the moment, there are a lot of breeders who may know of a litter with puppies available.  Perhaps they have used their stud dogs.

You may have to wait - be on a list as things are still difficult re finding puppies from reputable breeders.  You might contact the relevant Breed Club for names of known reputable breeders.

Good luck!

PS   I just had a quick look on Pets4 and there are 20+ PJR litters on there at varying prices, BUT be careful as many, if not most breeders who have to advertise there may well not be top quality breeders.   See how many names are also PJR Breed Club members.  And even then, if when you go visit, you don't get the right vibes, move on.

Hi MamaBas, excellent advice.  We're going to join the Parson Russell Terrier Club and see if they can provide a list of all the reputable breeders (https://www.parsonrussellterrierclub.co.uk/)

I'm wary of Pets4 and similar sites out there. Deeper research after phone calls shows that some are not as reputable as advertised.

We check the KC website twice a day, and the puppies seem to be gone before we get through. We were wondering if there's a magic door to them that we don't know about!

Thanks again,
Thebes

You are right to be very careful if dealing with websites like the one I mentioned.  As said, reputable breeders usually have a waiting list and really don't need to advertises on websites like that (although some while back, before Covid, I did occasionally see fellow-breeders in my own breed on there) - ditto with the KC Puppy lists.  One year when the market was 'stalled', I put an ad with the KC but then found myself listed with known puppy farmers!  All that's required to be on their list is to pay the fee - and register the litter.  Never again!

I agree with mamabas . Talk to breeders on here and d
get a feel for them .u may have to go on a waiting list .
Its probably worth going to shows where there are going to be parsons as well and discover dogs to talk to people .
As a matter of interest why have u decided on the parson jack and not the jack russell?

Thank you, FurrieFriends. Shows are a great idea.  I'll research when and where the Parson Russell terriers shows take place and start getting tickets.

We've been looking after a close friend's Parson Russell, who is 14 years old, for the past four years. We've grown very fond of her and now want one of our own.

Have a look on higham press for information on shows as well as the breed club .discover dogs u can Google. Most shows are free to spectators but u may have to pay parking  booking in advance isnt usually required .
I get why u have gone for the parsons if u have been up close and personal it can help making a breed choice.
