why are some breeders vaccinated pups from as early as 4 weeks of age, is this the norm now? I have never had my done before 8 weeks.

Not seen that but seems far to early as mothers immunity is most likley to still be present and maybe up to 16 weeks
Unless its the odd litter who may not have received any mothers milk for some reason especially colostrum

exactly my thoughts too, but this is on a RSPCA website ?  “Puppies are typically vaccinated at eight and ten weeks (although they can be vaccinated as early as four-six weeks of age) with the second dose usually being given two to four weeks later. Speak to your vet about the best timings.”

Seems very odd even risky as the pups may not be covered at all.
It will be interesting to see what others think

Don't believe my vets around here will do it before 8 weeks old. Never asked and wouldn't dream of wanting to do this to any puppy. I'm sure the data sheets for the vaccines don't suggest this but we would need to have a look

Well yes, the only reason i asked is because someone is going to look at a pup which is having its 2nd vacc friday  and they are viewing pup saturday and then the breeder is not letting the pup go for another week, and it will be 9 weeks old when they collect it, seems very odd to me .

The second vax can't be given until the pup is at least 10 weeks old. It could be that the pup had a single parvo vax early, and this injection is the first full vaccine, with a third one in 2 weeks time.

hand reared litter maybe?  if no milk from mother I would expect would be vaccinated earlier

Back when I got my first fay (now 9 years) I called my local vets to ask when I can get her vaccinated and they told me they will do the first anywhere from 6 week old. I had her done at 8 and 10 weeks wanting to get her out and about and ended up regretting it later after we almost lost her to parvo at 7 months. Her son I did at 9 and 12.

If they've been with the bitch the whole time any vaccination given at 4 weeks will have had absolutely no effect at all and was totally pointless. The injection this week should be considered the first one.

well yes exactly, and as they are not kc but supposedly pure bred he has no real proof of age ..
