Hi

Following from my earlier post regarding librela for my dog which is doing wonders for him; the poor thing has now got heart failure and build up of fluid in his lungs . I thought the panting initially was due to the heat and coughing from pollen & hayfever. Turns out it’s far from that but at least I have got him treatment.

Does anyone have any experience of frusemide and any tips for looking after him? I want to make him as comfortable as possible for as long as I can.

I have to wear gloves to handle the tablets and he is on half a tablet (20mg) twice a day and I hope they start to work fairly quickly. The librela took a week before I saw  an improvement on him

My last dog had DCM (enlarged heart) and was put onto vetmedin and frusimide. Both worked as she did well for the next three and a half years. I don’t know the dosage of the frusimide, didnt know you were supposed to wear gloves, I never did. The main thing I noticed was that she wee’ed a lot luckily she was totally continent and never had an accident.

glad you clarified that as I have to take that drug every day and no one ever told me about being careful with it lol

I was a bit concerned as my other half used to take it and no gloves required here either
