i have a 14 month old beautiful male,i would also like information on the criteria of breeding,when is it good to start ,what to look for,how much is the stud fee,do u get to keep one of the litter,what must i provide in terms of documentation.and what should they provide .i would be gratefull for any helpfull information,thanks very much

Hi Eve , first off , you will need to make sure your boy is an outstanding example of his breed and that people know that. This usually happens by taking him to shows , if he does well then people will get in touch with you ASKING to use him at stud. Secondly , you will have to make sure he has had ALL the necessary health checks ...probably hips and eyes (not too well up on OES's so I could be wrong).

As an unproven stud I am not sure of prices for stud fees and I think keeping one of the litter would be a contract between you and the bitches owner.

Once you have made sure your chap is a healthy specimen (BVA reccomended screening) and a good example of the breed i would advise you to get him out showing so his face is known and hopefully winning and then people will want to use him at stud
When you dog has served a bitch you must supply the bitches owner with a puppy registration form with your dogs Kc deails on it so that they can register the puppies
I would consider standing him at stud very carefully there are a lot of stud dogs out there and it is not as straight forward as it may first seem, you are moraly responsible for making sure your`e dog only serves good specimens (healthy,meets the breed standard,and with good temprements)

Average hip score for an OES is 20. Eyes should be tested annually for hereditary cataract. As far as any other health matters applying to OES this it for a breed specialist.
