Breeding / Bitch due in season March/April but still waiting - normal??
Hello you knowledgeable lot
I'm on a waiting list for a puppy, the breeder had said her bitch was due in season March / April however we're in June now and still waiting. Is this normal? Is it the same as a human having a late period? Any idea on how 'late' a season could be? I've tried googling but to no avail!
We're happy to wait and very happy with the breeder so far, I'm asking out of curiosity really as well as if its a potential sign of a red flag
(She's a golden retriever coming up to her 3rd birthday and will be her first litter if that makes any difference)
Thank you in advance

I have had bitches 2 months late, and you have guessed it, it's often when I plan to mate them.

Oh typical! Glad to hear it's just a thing that happens :) I thought as much but thought better to check! Keeping our fingers crossed its any day now she's in season... we've been searching for our perfect pup almost 2 years now!

Fingers crossed.

As a stud dog owner who's currently on call for two golden girls who were due their season Feb/Mar, I can confirm it happens more often than you'd imagine. Girls who have had regular to the day seasons can suddenly go months or more - often when you'd least want them to!
Thanks for the confirmation! Typical life - unpredictable at every opportunity!
