Hi there,
Can someone out there explain to me why Murphy goes bananas whenever I'm sweeping or mopping the floor?!
It's the only time I hear him growling and I don't know whether it's agression, fun or just a 'dog thing'.

Just a puppy thing ! My older dog used to chase the vacuum cleaner, broom and still tries to eat the wheels on the lawn mower although he is at least 4 1/2 :) We have to shut him in the house so he doesn't get mown :) He stopped chasing the others eventually. Funnily, our pup doesn't chase anything - although we haven't used the lawn mower yet this year, so I may be eating my words later :)

Ruth
Gus does it when i use the floor sweepery things when i do the laminate floor.
He growls and play jumps at it and when i make any attempt to move it he is trying to rip the tissue/paper thing off it.
Our trainer at puppy class says to let him have a good sniff and then to offer a treat when attempting to sweep so that you are offering him a choice between the treat or the sweeper and obviously he prefers the treat . We tried this and guess what happened ? YES he ate the treat and then carried on the same !!!! :D
If you sort it please let me know how

Hi Ruth My Murphy does the same - he chases the sweepy thing and legs off with the cloth and ''kills' it and he chases the hoover and snaps at the pipe -I think he's just playing ,sometimes i stop him and sometimes I dont depends how 'manic' he is :D

HI
As everyones said, it s a fun thing, despite the growling and tugging,I have to put my pups out of the way otherwise i can't mop, sweep or hoover up, and trying to do the stairs with the nozzel..well that's just a nightmare :D :D
Its just a puppy thing..most of the time? :D

Thanks everyone!
Fortunately he doesn't bark at the Hoover - well, that makes a noise!:) He usually hides under the table or jumps on a chair.
I'll let him have his fun for now and hopefully he'll grow out of it soon - if labs ever grow out of anything:D

Ruth, my Yorkie LOVES the broom and mop. She grabs on for dear life and won't let go, growling along with it. She thinks it's play time as soon as she sees me getting either of them out. Takes an eternity to sweep or mop, so now I put her in her crate so I can get the work done peacefully. She watches my every move though. :D Shirl
