Hi
I’m looking for a working cocker pup. A girl. KC reg,
Docked etc. (A liver/chocolate roan would be superb)
We had 2, but lost one at Xmas, she was 13.
Fabulous home, Gundog training planned pup pending.
It’s a minefield buying one now.

Many thanks

or better to find a breeder, get to know each other, then have a puppy when they..however long that may be https://www.champdogs.co.uk/breeds/cocker-spaniel/breeders?wk=1&tx=&pc=&distance=

It might be worth approaching the secretary of a Gundog Club, or a Field Trials Spaniel Society.

Why not approach the person who bred your previous Cockers?    Alternatively you may find a working Cocker in your local newspaper?

You are not kidding re buying a puppy at the moment being 'a minefield'.

They no longer breed is the only reason.
I’ve tried the breeders on here.
Not many available here to be honest.
And £2500 is out of my price range. If I had it I’d pay it.

It's probably not the best place for working cockers here, being more geared towards the show world. I'd get a subscription for Sporting Gun Magazine, or Shooting Times, and check the classifieds there.

Great idea, I’ll do just that.
Many thanks!

You may find and I have no idea of quality of the dogs that litters are sometimes advertised on Agilitynet website. Have a look at some of the agility pages too as many working cockers are fantastic agility dogs.

Are you on Facebook and can you join some relevant sporting gu dog group? Also I’m in a uk breeding group and definitely seen people on the there with them. No idea on pricing though. Worth a try. Good luck.

Dog breeding, whelping and advice UK. It’s ok to post wanted on there, I would be specific about the docked bit as lots of people with family pet working cockers. Also a group called Council Licensed Breeders and PupWise (managed by CLB admin), have lists of higher standard licensed breeders. Believe there are some gun dog breeders on their lists. Hope that helps.

You could also try posting on some of the Facebook Country Sports pages.
