Hi sorry, if this is the wrong place to post.
I just wondered how breeders feel about prospective owners like me viewing pups now that restrictions are easing?
I have seen some litters advertised where the breeders are still saying no in-person viewings. We have hung on until we can go and see pups with mum in person (to make sure they are healthy and well and genuine, not a puppy farm or worse still non-existent!).
Just wondered whether I should expect there to be a reluctance still to see pups in person?
Hope this makes sense and thanks for reading.

As we can't have people in our homes maybe you could peer through a window or if its nice spend time in the garden with the pups if they are old enough. Most breeders don't allow people to go near the pups until they are at least 5 weeks old so worth baring that In mind too
Sorry, I did mean outside visiting, and at the appropriate age. I seem to think that when I got my previous pup (many years ago) it was only a couple of weeks before we brought her home that we went and ‘picked’ her (although in reality she picked us

).

I think this is a case of contacting breeders discussing everything seeing how things progress re covid rules .give it a few weeks and people may feel more confident in having people at least in the garden
Also if u are just looking at their websites then its likely they arnt changing info very frequently again u need to speak to them
Thanks. One was a litter not due until late May, and the breeder was not allowing any access until collection day in July (and requesting full payment in advance before collecting).
To be fair I’ve not looked at websites, I have been responding to litters/planned litters posted on champdogs. Thanks for your reply

With restrictions lifting I would not be happy with buying a puppy in full before seeing the litter. You need to be happy with the breeder, the set up, the bitch when you meet her and the litter itself.
Offering to video the litter and do zoom/video calls is another way to have a viewing before hand.
Exchanging money over before viewing is a red flag for me
Thanks. I wouldn’t have paid in full in advance anyway, just wondered whether outside viewings would be becoming more acceptable generally now that restrictions are easing. We are hoping to get a pup in the summer and all being well restrictions should be all but gone by then. Fingers crossed.

Totally agree . I wouldn't want be handing money over without seeing the litter and mum .at least as suejaw says

Hopefully yes things will be changing and by the summer assuming all goes well outside should be possible

I too would be worried about this especially as by that time virtually all restrictions would be lifted. I also wouldn’t want to be paying for a puppy in full without even having found if it truly exists let alone meeting it, seems a bit weird to me

I wouldn't buy one without having viewed in person . I would expect it to likely be outside in garden but no way would I pay anything without getting to meet mum and pups.

It's easy enough to transfer payment wirh on-line banking on the day.
I'd not pay more than a deposit befire, once I was certain of the breeder.
I would hope you can view in the garden with masks on...
They are also asking for a deposit to go on the waiting list before the pups are even born.

There is NO WAY I'd expect any prospective buyer to pay over a deposit before seeing the litter (which surely could be done in the garden on a fine summer day, with masks on?) AND DEF. NOT BEFORE THE LITTER IS EVEN BORN. Do you think you'd get your deposit monies refunded if there aren't enough puppies, or disaster strikes?
I didn't take deposit monies.

Is this someone advertising on this site? If so I suggest you report to admin. That's in reference to wanting a deposit before pups have been born and you've seem mum and met the breeder.
It is on champdogs, but I can’t see any contact details on the website it a way to report it. Could you point me in the right direction please? Thanks

Go to messages at the top of this page and then u can send a message to admin

Reported this to admin but they just said don’t buy if you have concerns
I just hope it’s all legitimate and no one gets scammed, either way it won’t be me. I may approach my local breed club instead. Thanks for all your advice.

That is a shame. I agree speak to the breed club for advice
