We had a mating yesterday with  experienced stud and maiden bitch. She was standing and flagging but he could not hit the right spot so we called it a day after about 20-30 min trying. We tried again today with some assistance, again he could not hit the right spot. However he have sprayed / ej*culated quite a lot at least 2-3 times from thrusting but all outside vulva just all over the place. They were trying for about 45-60 min. Just as we were about to leave he finally hit the spot and they had a good 20-30 min tie. But I wonder if he ej*culated so many times would he have any sperm left for the actual tie, as everywhere I read it say sperm-rich fluid is released before the tie happens. Thank you

Thank you. I do worry that since it was so hard for him to hit the spot we will face same struggle, it also going to be day 14 while cytology showed she ovulate on day 9 so days 11 and 12 were ideal. We agreed to take her tommorow again but not sure how successful that would be

You could be in luck. There are 3 parts to ej*culate, the first fraction is clear and has no semen in it, then there's the semen-rich fraction which is milky in colour. And then there's the prostatic fluid which is what is coming out during the tie.

If what he sprayed everywhere looked clear and not milky, I bet he sprayed the first fraction a bit - but hopefully got the semen where it needed to be. I think you have excellent chances.

We have taken her to other studs in previous seasons and never got even close, although all 3 were very experienced and she was supper patient standing up nicely. This owner seemed very keen to make it happen so he was really trying hard to assist them, not sure he will be quite so keen tommorow as the stud fee is paid and I don't think he will put as much effort into it. The stud fee was also really high so now I really worry

What was the problem he was having with hitting the spot? He is just humping her but not going in? In my breed it is the job of the stud dog handler to ensure that happens - usually by lining up the bitch's vulva with the penis. If you try to touch his penis, it may put him off (tis very sensitive!) but you can have someone right there, aiming the vulva at the penis...

This owner did tried to assist by lifting her legs up however we had about 15-20 attempt and we were about to give up then it finally happened, but because how long it took he ej*culated in air at least twice. He did said she was the trickiest bitch to mate they e er had despite how calm and patient she was. The first stud owner was not trying to assist at all, she was just letting him hump the air and said that he usually does it on his own fairly quickly. Second one gave up after about 45 min saying their size don't match. So I guess every stud owner is different.

Went this morning and used a flat box under her back feet this time so it happened much faster. Its her day 13 so really hoping for positive outcome. Will update in 30 days

If it's down to a size difference you can also find a ramp or a slope of some kind, often easier than a box. Good luck!
