Hi. I’m not over sure if I am on the correct board here but here is a question I hope someone will be able to help me out with?

I am trying to a finding out if there is a Border Terrier breeder that uses the prefix “Beckshire” My Border was an offspring of the Dam “Beckshire Orchid” and I know there are dozens of Borders since 2006 right through to 2019 with the same prefix, but can’t find a breeder or kennel that used or uses this this name?  Any help would be appreciated.

If you go onto kennel club website you can have a look.
I put the dams name in and she had 2 litters.
The grand mother which is from Beckshire affix had 6 litters   sorry not a breeder I would want to go to, 6 litters on 1 bitch. And her mother had 5 litters. Seems they just use a lot of their own breeding, commercial breeding scale back then.

No health testing for SLEM there either.

The mother had two litters neither with the Beckshire affix (one under penhill and one without an affix at all) so it's likey your border wasn't bred by the Beckshire breeder.

But if your looking to get another of the same line according to a couple pages the Berkshire dogs were from Mr A Hurst

I'd contact the border terrier club to see if they can tell you if he is still breeding and either out you in contact with him or pass on your info to him.

Hi Ian. Looks like the kennel name Beckshire is owned by a Mr A.M. Hurst but I can’t find a website or any contact info I’m afraid.

Perhaps try the breed clubs, they may have contact details for him or be able to pass yours on.

Thanks for you reply and comments. I lost my Border Bitch Penhill Pebble. “Amber” just before Xmas and got her in 20006 as a puppy and I am now thinking of the possibility of getting a new friend.  I just thought I would try getting one from bloodlines that are close to hers.  I Bred her once and she had 2 bitches and 3 Dogs of her own back in 2008, one of the bitches which had litters and one not. I’ve looked at the details from her offspring and it seems to have tailed off.  She was such a lovely Dog in every way so thought I would search bloodlines for this reason, I had no idea at the time 2006 that there was SLEM testing.

Many thanks for your reply and will try what you have suggested, I may be better trying to contact the person I bought Amber from as puppy he is “Penhill breeder” but not Borders anymore

There was no SLEM testing in 2006. Although the condition did occur approximately 3 decades ago the DNA test only became available in October 2017.

Her nephew PENHILL ERIC has sired many litters including one in 2018 so it might be worth checking out his litters for a relation as well as going back in her ped

One of his daughters  KENAITEEN COOL ELEMENTS had a litter in 2019, and 2020 but the pups and mum are both kc affix by the look of it so less chance of tracking the breeder/owner I'm afraid.

His daughter PENHILL ALICES BEAUTY has had litters under the ESPLANDMOON affix one was 2019 and she has been health tested.
One of her daughters ESPLANDMOON PRETTY PEARL had a litter in 2020 under the KINGHANGER affix (can't find a site for them but there is a kinghanger p4h account)
