I know this is going to come across as very stupid, but I just wanted to be thorough and this is a good place to ask.
My pup started her first season Feb 5th and I pencilled in March 5th as her end date. This morning a 11 month old unneutered male mounted her, it was for a few seconds if that but my pup squealed. They were both on leads and have met before.
I've checked with vets and her breeder who both say she shouldn't get pregnant but I just wanted to ask people on here. I know 99% she should be fine but its still nagging away at me.

Mounted her? Was there actual penetration because if not, she shouldn't be pregnant. Besides which, seasons last approx 21 days, give or take a few. As a puppy, she may have a split heat but otherwise, I'd say no puppies - the dog was just playing around with her.
To be certain your puppy won't be having puppies, book her in for her spay asap. Potential problem solved.

I don't think there was penetration as she wasn't standing and the male was taken away without him showing any discomfort. My plan had always been to spay her when she's had two seasons and is matured more so I'd hate to do it right now

re spaying I agree . It is better for her to wait until she is mature . Hopefully all will be well but if worried speak to your vet again and if it did look like she is pregnant you can use Alzin which will prevent the pregnancy form progressing
I'm pretty sure she won't be pregnant. She squealed because she isn't receptive - she would not have been able to allow him to penetrate, it would have hurt too much and she would likely have fought tooth and claw in self-defence to stop it... which wasn't necessary because one squeal told him that.
I wouldn't think more about it.
Thank you for all your replies. I do regularly read the breeding and behaviour parts of this forum but never post so I really appreciate the replies. I know her fertile stage was over a month ago, and they never tied etc but it's still a concern.
Are there any signs I should look for whilst she could still have the alizin injection?
I have zero intention of breeding I know that's a serious thing for people who know exactly what they are doing.

Was the male when pulled away 'erect', or even showing 'lipstick', if not and it wasbseconds, he would not have penetrated.
Would it have been obvious if he was erect? Didn't look like he was but was maybe a bit red at the tip. It wasn't even a few seconds, pretty much as soon as he mounted her she squealed and he was taken off.

Yes, and if actually mated without tying you'd see plenty in an imature inexperienced male.
It looked normal (is that crude to say?). I'm just a very paranoid person I know she won't be pregnant but it's just that annoying thing in the back of my mind. She's extremely precious to me, I call her my unofficial therapy dog and I would hate to think I let her down so badly

It's all normal, it's just that dogs have a tidy storage area for their impressive tackle.
