Hi Folks, I recently was lucky enough to rescue a beautiful 10mth old toy poodle. She is light apricot coloured and has tear stains. She is my 5th poodle but my others were Black and Brown . I have always had my dogs from 8 to 10 weeks old so was able to keep their faces from being stained .
My question is simply--- is there anything without chemicals in it , that I can use to keep her face from staining.
I wash her face with cooled boiled water daily and have managed to clip her reasonably short on her face but would really like to prevent the dreaded tear stain getting a hold and not being able to get rid of it.
Is there any helpful hints/tips anyone can pass on please ?

Blueberry facials help keep tear stains at bay, if you go to a groomers a lot of them now offer this as an added extra. But if you wanted to also keep on top of this yourself at home then the tropiclean spa facial scrub is supposed to be good, we used a showseason one but that’s on the dearer side. You use it just like a dog shampoo and follow dilution instructions and then massage round face and partically eyes. It’s not magic, but it does work with continued use. The only other thing I’d suggest is what you’re already doing and just keep wiping away any sleep etc. They say only putting down filtered fresh water helps too...although I’m not sure if there is truth in that, maybe someone else has tried and knows?

Thank you Madforlabs,
I will certainly try the Tropiclean Spa facial scrub. I groom all my dogs myself and she's getting used to being brushed and was really good putting up with the clippers.
I give my poodles bottled water, my Black poodle has epilepsy and the chlorine in the tap water seemed to make his fits worse so I have been using bottled spring water for a number of years and it did seem to help with that.
Thanks again for all your advice.
