I am so worried. My Rottie (9 1/2) had a mammary strip at the beginning of October last year, 3/4 of the wound healed but the remainder, (despite re stitching), refused to heal. The swab results showed Ecoli, and Staphyloccus Pseudintermedius, with a whole load of resistant antibiotics listed. My vet said the wound would need to heal by granulation, and advised me to use Manuka Honey, (which I researched and found a high grade 514 upwards would help). Sadly, she has had skin problems for most of her life, (including a recurring psdemonas infection in a foreleg), and has numerous allergies, (seen a dermatologist). Eventually the mammary wound healed, but now she has lesions appearing, deep pyoderma, some discharging some not, (and we're obviously visiting/keeping in touch with my vet), who has advised to keep using the Manuka honey. Does anyone have any experience with antibiotic resistance that could share their experience, as the manuka honey is just not helping now.

I should have said that we've already tried two different abs that have been recorded on the last two swabs as 'sensitive' but they've not worked. The Manuka honey grade I'm using (540) is supposed to help with MRSA, (and MRSP, which is the dog equivalent). I am due to speak to my vet tomorrow, I'm just looking for help, and perhaps a miracle.

I would be getting a referral to a skin specialist who can also do tests to see what antibiotics are suitable to be given and anything else to help her skin heal. I wouldn't be messing about with a regular vet, see a specialist pronto
