Hi All ,

In 8 weeks we have a German Shepherd Pup arriving :):), However i met with a breeder today who has some labrador puppies (another dog which i have always wanted) - they are ready in 3 weeks .
My question is would a lab pup get on with a GSD pup or do you think it would be wise to just stick with the gsd for now?

The pups will get along fine,It's whether you can cope with two pups, many people can , many people can't :)
The pro s are that they will keep each other occupied, sleep together at night so usually no crying,teach each other that it hurts when they mouth.
The con's are that it's more difficult to train two at a time, toilet and basic obedience.
As I've said in a post before , I've sold two pups to people who are dog experienced before and say they would always have two pups together, rather than one on it's own, many breeders run two pups together,
although in my opinion I would always have one of each sex, and either be extremely careful or get one doctored...don't know what your long term plans are..breeding ??
The reason I say get one of each sex is that, sometimes dogs of the same sex fight, and sometimes it gets to the point where one has to be rehomed.It's not in all cases, I have dogs and bitches together and their fine, but have two dogs that I can't have together, luckily it's not a problem, and neither have to be re homed, but give it some serious thought before you take two pups on, and also the sexes, Iknow you are getting a boy gsd :D...so maybe a girl lab ??? up to you, just thought I'd put both sides to you.

I know how you feel, if it wasn't for my litter of pups I'd be there with their mother. I would have needed more than a sports bra for her today though :D

Well lots of thinking to do , will probably be wise to start with 1 - maybe ill get a lab at a later date.
8 weeks is going very slow :(
