Hi, please delete if not allowed.

We had to let our Goldie Lab go over Rainbow Bridge last Christmas and we are ready to welcome a pup into our family.

Ideally from the Warrington area, but any surrounding areas would be great too.

Please, can somebody help.

Thank you in advance.

Regards, Tina

You should be able to search the breeders section on this site.

I'd send a few messages and get on their waiting list. Find a good breeder rather than a puppy now.

You may have to wait, and should given where BYB prices have gone since C19 hit.  Good breeders have curtailed their breeding plans, meaning the only breeders with puppies at the moment, are BYBs.

Contact the relevant Breed Club - they do have Codes of Ethics which should rule out BYBs.    Many used to have somebody keeping a book of breeders with puppies - I don't know if this is still done.

I've seen this posted more times than I can count but it just isn't true. There are still plenty of 'good' breeders still breeding. It can be confusing enough for those in search of a puppy at the moment. Even if anecdotally you know breeders how have paused their plans, definitive statements like this aren't exactly representative.

Agreed, many postponed planned litters, but obviously with bitches having finite time to have a litter, and with shows largely absent now seems a sensible time to get a litter, and get the girls fit for when shows restart.

Sorry Ryan but from the advertisements here and on another well known website, this IS true.  Unfortunately.  But if you want to believe otherwise, so be it.

I don’t believe that it is true. I know of many good breeders (myself included) who have had Golden Retriever litters this year and some who have litters on the way.  All are being homedvia word of mouth, many to previous owners. None of us have had to advertise amongst the breeders who are charging crazy prices.

Is that the crucial difference? Breeders who are known and are homing by word of mouth often to  the circumstances u mention golden mum dont need to advertise .
Those who are advertising often at the ridiculous prices may be those who arnt well known in the breed and possibly dubious breeders ?
Just something that struck me from
  your comment .

I would agree with this, Goldenmum. I’ve heard of several that fit this description, and also where the waiting list may have been in existence for some time.

Ryan C:  I agree this is so untrue. When you have waiting lists from legitimate & previously vetted possible new owners you
explain that pausing - not stopping breeding is due to concerns over lock down issues and after a period of time re-assess...
Responsible breeders limit their waiting lists and if the number born have over that number of Puppies, alternative ways of
finding homes is required.  The same criteria of vetting remains.

Yes FF.   I can and do, only speak for the two breeds I have a connection with in terms of those who are still breeding!
