Topic Dog Boards / Health / Trench Foot?
- By 91052 [gb] Date 09.12.20 12:22 UTC
Does anyone else have problems with red/rusty skin and hair between toes and paw pads, not sore, no itching.  I am convinced it is caused by paws being constantly wet at this time of the year.  I now thoroughly dry with blow dryer after each walk and also apply some talc powder to soak up any excess moisture as well has removing as much hair as possible.  Hoping this helps, just wondering whether anyone else experiences it.

Had this with one of mine and used to out some Thornit into a freezer bag and then stick paws in and wriggle them about in it. Seemed to help

Thanks, I guess thornit is drying out the area also.  Never had it before with any other dog.

This was a long time ago with a Bernese but it helped after another owner with the same breed suggested it

Yes, River’s paw hair is rusty/reddish. I have to admit I hadn’t made the connection with the weather but of course he gets wet feet multiple times a day this time of year.

We towel dry every time, but we’ll try powder as well. Thanks. :)
