Hello,
I'm glad to see such an active forum.
I'm searching for a new addition to my family and it was never my intention to buy a puppy as I would prefer to rehome or adopt, unfortunately many shelters do not want to do so with a small child. She is 5 now and settled at school, I am home by myself most of the day so it is the right time for us. I've always loved dogs and always had kind of shared ownership through partners or housemates but never been full mommy. I have my heart set on finding either a mini bull terrier or Manchester terrier.
Any tips, advice, leads, info on the process greatly appreciated.

Obviously I'm aware the current circumstances and am happy to be on wait lists. Watching alllll the videos

I'd start researching more into the two breeds you've narrowed it down too and decided which one you want to go with. You should look into the breed traits, energy levels, easy of training, stubbornness, ext. And pick the breed that's traits best suit your lifestyle. After that you can start looking for breeders.

Make sure you look up the health tests relevant to your breed and always ask breeders for proof that these have been done on the parents with good results. It's better to be added onto a waiting list for a good breeder than to get a puppy quickly from a bad one.
This puppy will be a part for your life for 12+ years, a poorly bred one will cost you a lot of heart ache and money.

Find a puppy training class in your area and with a trainer your happy to work with.

Puppies are a lot of work but also worth it. Good luck to you.

I would contact breed specific Rescue.

They often work on a more individual flexible basis, without such rigid rules.

Often they will have dogs with a lot more history, or know of dogs that have come back to their breeder.

Thanks for you reply.

I know I shouldn't rush the process, even though it's all I can think about at the moment...

I will look into local trainers and clubs, there are lots from first search so I'll see how things are operating atm. All outdoors and 1:1 I suspect.

Thank you! I hadn't thought to search so specifically. I also think I had chosen these breeds based on buying a puppy. Hmmmm. Lots more research to be done. Thanks again
