
To be honest, I'd talk to your vet about what's best for this wee lad. This kind of hernia is more often dealt with when/if the puppy is castrated to avoid the need for two sets of anaesthetic. Unless it's likely to be really dangerous, and depending on what your vet recommends, I'd wait a bit. I don't castrate until the dog is a year, with the growth plates closed - if I have castration done at all.
