Hi all!

Just joined to connect with like minded people and learn from your posts.

We have imported a Norrbottenspets and would love to chat with folk in the UK and beyond who are interested in these insane, noisy,  intelligent, beautiful  creatures.  We do hope to have a litter at some point in the future but we will see.

We are owned by a spitz x, 2 french bulldogs, a Norrbottenspets and a great dane x English mastiff.

Wow I have always been attracted to this breed, along with many in my breed, some of whom have other Nordic breeds (primarily Buhnd and Vallhund, and Jamthund).

If your on Facebook please join the GB Norwegian Elkhound Group.

PM me and I'll invite you.

They are a lovely attractive breed.

With the loss of my only breeding age bitch in March I was seriously tempted to look into importing.

If my attempts at getting a pup from my own lines fails, (4 year old bitch I bred only managed slip matings, and she will be 5 next season)I may indeed look more into it.

There is an 18 month old I bred whose owners plan to breed next year, if Hips come back OK, as DNA status is known.

That will really be my last chance.

Apologies for that link being to an American article.   Looking at the photo, to me, with my breed(s) they look a bit straight in the stifle.   I note mention of patella evaluation.    Or is it just how the standing dog is pulling forward?

Oh as in hoax - ie made up word  LOL.

Thanks for the link MamaBas.  I had never heard of the breed and couldn't believe that there was such a word!!

Don't know how to Translate page, but in Google you can click on it in tools

Should be typical moderate Spitz angulation, hind foot just behind root of tail.

I have friended one person on Facebook who has a bitch.

Yes it's the Americans who call them Nordic Spitz, where to me that eas always an encompassing yerm for Spitz breeds from Scandinavian countries.

Is there any move in the UK to get the breed going.

I know a fellow Elkhounder who.always fancied having a male.

Hi, yes that was me!
I got mine because we fell in love with them when my husband and I were living in Europe.  We rehomed a crossbreed rescue dog male who had a lot of the characteristics of a norbie, he is still with us at 17.

Thanks Barbara.  I rather like the look of them, not too big for oldies like me too!
