Hi everyone. My girl is still in heat, she’s almost 11 months old now and this is her first season. She’s been bleeding (quite heavily the last week or so) for 5 1/2 weeks now and I’m not sure when to get worried. She’s very good in herself, bouncy, active, eating and drinking well and peeing normally (although there is a bit of blood when she pees it’s tricky to know if that’s because it’s being pushed out when she pees). Vulva wasn’t that swollen for the first couple of weeks but is quite swollen now. No chance of her being near make dogs, she’s been housebound since the season started.

I suspect she may be having a Split season.

She came in, but hormone levels did not rise enough, and signs dwindled, and then signs a few weeks later came in properly.

If she is well, no temperature, no foul smelling discharge.

I'd certainly take especial care to keep her away from male dogs until all signs subside, and her genitals shrink to a normal adult quiescent state.

I had a bitch have her first season for that long, so can be normal, no bitch reads the books, as to what is normal.
