I have rabbits, and it’s always been stressed to me that having a vet you trust and who has good knowledge of the species is of paramount importance. Bunnies are delicate animals and they can go wrong so quickly, it’s super important you get the right treatment asap because it’s no exaggeration to say they can go from hopping around perfectly fine in the evening to dead of gastrointestinal stasis in the morning without intervention.

Dogs aren’t quite so immediate in general, but the same message applies. If you don’t like your vet for whatever reason, vote with your feet. Find a better vet. I’ve tried quite a few and settled on my current surgery where I’ve been for at least 15 years with various animals from pets to rescued wild hedgehogs.

This thread sort of reminds me of so many internet questions I’ve seen which are variations on “I was sick this morning and my period is a day late, am I pregnant?”. Why ask a bunch of unqualified internet strangers rather than, I dunno, taking a pregnancy test and seeing your GP or family planning centre or other appropriate medical professional?

What is sad is that the very sincere proficient young lady vet is no longer at the practice. She has been absent 3 years thereabouts.
I have vented my gripes and I enumerate
1.  " rats tail -  thyroidism not diagnosed
2.  £2000 scan not needed
3. £800 leg operation not needed
4. My current dogs bronchitis worse plus diarrhoea
I am a very reasonable person grammar school with disciplines political science accountancy and taxation  and feel let down and very unimpressed by veterinary behaviour

To be honest, if a vet told you that developing seizures in middle age, without there being a physical cause, isn't unusual, that's not a vet I would trust.

If you're so unhappy at your current practice, change to another one. Perhaps find out where your favourite vet moved to (if she's still in the profession)?

> Its embarrassing  as the pavement looks flooded with bistro gravy on the walks

If any of our hounds had bad stools, for whatever reason, meaning we couldn't pick up, their exercise off the property was curtailed.

I think Mozartbailey is a troll now. It's called baiting. I'll be putting him on ignore.

I have been considering  that for a while 1234. Something isn't right

I have come close to posting Trit Trot a couple of times!

onetwothreefour>Vet BILLS>  Unfortunately badger baiting, trolling and heated rows are very much the norm and like everyone else I'm sure it is unecessary and hopefully
will become less & less but I'm not that confident sadly.

So what these 3 pages of comments come back to is this: you don't trust your vet.  Which is understandable, given the examples you've mentioned.

So find a different one, and stop dragging this thread on to complain about the current one.  It's gotten so repetitive and it's serving no purpose.

If it speaks for itself, as in your beef with your vet, just do something about it. Ergo, follow it up with your vet. You have received a pretty singular response from posters on this forum. Finis.
