Hi,
Best bet is to contact the National Dog Tattoo Register - I think the number is 01206 735336. There are tattooists all over the country who will come to your home to do it. It takes very little time, and my adults and litters are all tattooed.

hi
I also queried this before getting my dog microchipped . There are occasions when the numbers sometimes fade and become illegible or thieves can even alter the numbers . If you do a search you can bring up lots of info on this

Nothing is foolproof :( Microchips can be 'disabled' and overridden, or even removed. A tattoo is at least visible.

I agree - I wasnt endorsing Microchipping above tattooing at all .
Before I made the decision I recieved lots of advice from people on CD with the pros and cons of both .
Microchipping is not ideal as they are not always checked depending on who "finds" your dog . Also there is the issue of the vet not having to inform you if someone else brings in your dog as they are under obligation to their client .
If a professional dog thief takes your dog then i dont think it matters what you have done as they will take care to cover their tracks :(

Hi
Tattoo and micro chip, then you are as covered as you can be :)
