I've not read it but can your friend find it in her local library (once they open again).   It seems rather expensive, even in paperback.

The feedback suggests it's a book worth reading although I tend to go with EXPERIENCE - my own!!

Most libraries are open by appointment.  I just have to phone mine and they book people in half hour apart.

I've checked and the book is not available in the whole of my county.  I would certainly feel that the book is worth the price.  I am experienced in obedience and tracking, but still think it's a worthwhile read.

I'll have to see what the Libraries in Cornwall are doing - up to recently you could reserve books and go collect them and take back, but it wasn't possible to go in further than the entrance porch.   I've pretty much re-read all the books we have in the house!!   We have a big number of Kathy Reichs, and Dan Brown.

I haven't read this book but one of the best ones on the subject of dogs is "Think Dog" by John Fisher. Gives one of the best explanations why you should never take your dogs food away once it has started eating and completely nullifies the myth that if your dog trusts you and you are the "Boss" you can take his food away and give it back over and over again. Also one of my favourite dog books is "Sleeping with Dogs" by Brian Sewell. Not technically a behavioural book but when I read it, as I have many times, it makes me feel less a mad old dog woman and that there are people out there like me.

If this is what that author says, he has my vote.   I have NEVER gone with all this take the food away nonsense.   If anybody wants to MAKE a dog start resource guarding, that's the way to do it!   By all means make the dog wait, sit or whatever before putting the bowl down (something I've never done either) but once the bowl goes down, it stays down and the dog is left to eat in peace.

Thanks Gundog Girl will pass them on although I think she will have John Fisher:smile:
