Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / If your dog bites a burglar ....?

Why do intruders/burglars (someone breaking in) possibly have a right to SUE a dog owner, because they got bitten by their dog, even though the burglar decided to break into their house ? Wouldn't it be easier to keep this law simple (take all the rights away from the burglar) example: someone commits a crime, then they have no rights whatsoever.

If I lived in some parts of the world and I shared my bed with a siberian tiger, and a burglar broke into my bedroom in the middle of the night and the tiger got him, I wouldn't have much sympathy for the burglar, well maybe just a bit.

Far as I'm concerned it would be their own fault.
After all that's why we have them for protecting our property and to protect me personally, same as I protect and look after them they'll look after me too.
If some a****** was to try breaking in they'll get what they deserve by both myself and my guys, after all we would be defending our home or property which no one has the right to enter unless invited.
I wouldn't have dogs put down for defending me or our home either or pay damages I'd tell them where to go first.

Too many pansies about these days who think they can do whatever they like and of course just get away with it.

Would love to have someone like Charles Bronson come to my defence any day.

UK.   Isn't there some law about burglars coming in vs burglars going out?    I'd imagine being bitten by a resident dog would come under the same banner.   The home-owner defending his property being ok, or not?  But then there's the situation re keeping a 'dangerous dog' on a private property now.

I've never had to put any of this to the test - if anybody came in here, they'd have been killed with kindness.   Although at night mine are/were crated.

I knew of a family who had a black Lab.   They had a plumber come in when they were not at home (arranged).   He got in fine, but the dog wouldn't let him out again.   He was found on their return later that day.   He'd locked himself in one of the bedrooms and was not a happy chappy.

"if you deliberately set your dog onto the intruder and they then suffer injury, you may be liable for prosecution"

Above is what I just read
