Hi I bought a Scottish Terrier off an established FB breeder was givin all the heath checks the pedigree ect ect.
Now 6 month later I've had a message telling me I will be receiving new pedigree and there was an error with the first one regarding sperm getting mixed up and the KC know... so they say.... So the male is the wrong one on the pedigree.
I have also been told the male who is now the father had CMO and in all probability my dog will have it too infact all the pups will have it and to say I'm raging is an understatement... I obviously wouldn't have bought if I'd know this.
My dogs booked into the vet tomorrow and I will ask about a test... Im going to be going to a lawyer to claim for damages as I bought the dog to breed with the one I already own so losing 1000s....

What do you think can they do this as in change the father on the pedigree and do u think I have a winning case.
Thanks

You need to contact the kennel club and speak to them first hand.

I'm a bit confused.

An established FB breeder ? Do you mean someone who advertises their dogs on FB for sale ?

Has your dog had a parental DNA test done ? The only way to know who is the sire & dam of a puppy is for all three to have DNA profiling done & the results compared. It can be done as soon as pups are weaned. Results do not take 4/5 months to be returned.

The CMO DNA test is available from Laboklin or AnimalLabs Your vet can take the sample, but not do the DNA test

Has you puppy shown any of the symptoms ?

CMO is an autosomal dominant with incomplete penetrance mode of inheritance(ie a dog may only have 1 copy of the gene to be affected)& your puppy may or may not inherit the mutation from it's sire, it depends on whether the sire has 1 or 2 copies of the mutation

First of all you need to get your dog DNA tested, and the results compared to the supposed parents' DNA. Only when the parentage is confirmed can you decide on your next move.

Is the breeder a an Assured Breeder with the KC?
