My yorkies first mated last year, my bitch had 5 adorable puppies with no complications whatsoever. She has just had her second season and is at the stage where she is ready to mate, however my male yorkie takes one sniff of her and walks away. They did have one mating 3 days ago, but he just seems uninterested, can anyone help?.

Hi Cava, Molly my shih tzu had her first season at 8 months. Just wondered (sitting here in the lunch hour :) ) how old your yorkie was when she had her first season? Been told that smaller dogs mature quicker also?

Hi, my yorkie Tilly, had her first season at 9 months, she got pregnant on her first season( unplanned, i must say). She had her first litter 2 days after she was 1, and bless her heart she was an absolute brilliant mum.
Just out of interest because I'm curious if your bitch had her first season and was mated albeit unplanned how old is she now at her second season. If she has gone 6 months by my reckoning that makes her only 15 months old now.
That means she will have had two litters back to back before she is 18 months old. Poor little soul, she is still a pup herself. Plus noting from your other posting the dog has a bad coat for a Yorkie!!! Had you given no thought to the fact that the puppies could end up with that type of coat as well.
Was this second mating planned or unplanned?

Well said Lady Dazzle. And don't forget the Yorkie sire is the size of a Westie!! Heaven help the puppy buyers who think they're buying a toy dog!

For your information my Bitch is just a little bit smaller than my male Dog, and as for misleading people, how wrong you are, when the new owners came to view my pups, they saw Mum & Dad, so get your facts right lady!!!

For your information, we have had our Vets advice all the way along, and as for the condition of my yorkies coat he has a lovely coat, he just knots very easy, and as for the pups, I am still in touch with all their owners, and not one of them has had problems. My bitch is young she is 18 months old, and if she has another litter she will then be spayed. Do not judge me! you do not know me, i thought this was supposed to give advice and help people, not try to run people down.

Not judging you Cava, just your breeding practices and attitude to your young bitch. Are you really saying the your Vet has suggested that you mate your 18 month old bitch for a second time?
The breed standard calls for a Yorkie coat to be "perfectly straight (not wavy), glossy, fine silky texture, not woolly" A glossy fine and silky coat doesn't knot and is very easy to keep well groomed and in good condition. As a groomer, I have never needed to clip off a neglected Yorkie with a correct coat. I have arthritic pensioners who keep their Yorkies well groomed, IF they have correct coats.
Yes we do try to help people here. But we also try to encourage responsible breeding practices.

You seem to have a lot to say for yourself do not call me a liar, my Vet said exactly that, my bitch yorkie has got a different coat than my male yorkie, no they are not smooth haired they are more fluffy, however they are groomed every day without fail, and they are very very well loved, and again i repeat we have not gone in to this with the object of earning money, i find your comments quite offensive and uncalled for really.

I have had this problem - my stud boy just is not interested in his 'own girls' i.e. the ones who live with him IF I attempt to mate them but performs beautifully for my friend who has more stud handling experience. He does produce wonderful quality pups BUT not for me. I have decided that he feels that he is doing something naughty and so being the good boy that he is, he just walks away.
