sould you tell me do Jack russells have them on or off and what are the pro's and cons

i have my puppies done at the vets...my old lab still has them on but they can get ripped

I'm behind you all the way, parson breeder - the pups I breed have the vet take them off - our old lab which still had hers ripped them something rotten and screamed (the only time she ever did) and bled dreadfully.

It is up to you to decide whether or not to remove the foreclaws. I have never done it and have never had any problems. I have bought in a dog which had it done as a puppy. It was not done properly and all her life we have had problems with that leg, she is now eight years old.
All my dogs are working gundogs, and are expected to go through cover and over rough ground.

I've never had it done on any of mine (and I have Parson Russell Terriers) and had no problems at all. Like anything there could be potential problems but as my dogs use their dew claws quite readily I think the pro's far outweigh the cons.
