Hello, I’ve found this forum so useful when I’ve gotten stuck so thanks again for your input, a great help!
Getting prepared for our new four legged family member to arrive but having trouble finding toys (teething/chews)! Some look great and then I read the reviews and most say “didn’t even last 2 hours”!! I’m concerned about ones that are plastic and he may end up swallowing bits which obviously I’d really like to avoid.
We’ve got a Kong and some deer antler and I was told frozen carrots (yes/no?!) but does anyone have a brand they’d recommend (or steer well clear of!) I don’t want to panic buy once he’s arrived! He’s a Labrador if that makes any difference.
I’m hoping to have a bit of a stash to keep things interesting and also to ensure the inevitable teeth and chewing is aimed more at toys and not the children’s fingers and toes!!
Thanks in advance

I like stuff from Company of Animals- they tend to be well made. Nylabone chew toys are good too.
avoid anything with batteries in- believe it or not there are dog toys sold with them in and its a horrible accident waiting to happen.

It may depend if your pup has a 'soft' mouth or if he is a real chewer to the point of destruction.
The plastic toys/squeekys and soft toys were a no for Zuma but he was ok with the very soft latex squeekys as they were
too soft to chew properly but still entertaining for him. I also second the nylabone stuff and the Kong wobbler.
Forgot to add - jolly-ball and boomer ball - preferably for outside play
Thank you both for your suggestions, will take a look!

Things like ice cubes, frozen yoghurts, carrots etc are a good frozen treat that will satisfy the need for chewing and they do play with them as well.
I go through toys regularly with my lot, as they have all had a nibble as pups/youngsters, and now play tuggy with them.

Keep the antler out of the way until you know how hard pup will chew. They can break teeth on hard chewers.
Make sure you have a variety of textures, and I'm a big fan of chew roots. Pups always end up going for wood at some point, as teething starts, and chew roots are a safe option that don't splinter and save your furniture.

I also like unfilled cows hooves for chewing. not as hard as some other things so I think less dangerous to teeth

I would always have: Yak bar chews, deer antlers and a hollow buffalo horn available for starters and then see which the puppy prefers.
I wouldn't use deer antlers for dogs with adult teeth because they can fracture teeth on them, they are so hard. But for baby puppies with puppy teeth, they are fine - they don't have the jaw strength to damage teeth...
Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Really helpful and much appreciated

My boy was never interested in antlers unless they were split. He loves getting at the hard marrow.
