Confused.com    I have been in touch with Dogs Trust who have sent me a very full and helpful explanation re how things are when adopting a dog from them these days.  They would set up an appointment for visits to the Shelter or deliver to Home where appropriate (in brief).   However, as the nearest DT is roughly 50 miles, each way, from where I live, am I allowed to travel that distance - would it still be seen as 'non essential' travel?   I know I can travel for exercise, but for this?

You can go shopping for example anywhere u like as long as u dont stay anywhere overnight . The non essential bit is a bit woolly now as u  an travel as far as u like for exercise and sitting on a beach for.the day is fine not exactly exercise but acceptable
I would expect to stay outside but  the other thing that would bother me is toilets on the way.  although u can use toilets when u arrive now
Just heard toilets in some shops eg John Lewis are open
It sure has become confusing yet again  .

:grin:   Me too - being type 2 Diabetic and having to 'go' when I have to go ..............  hum.   Why is life so complicated these days!

Whoa - just read through that link (thanks), and another link to a link ...... grey muddy areas - you bet.    If in doubt, do NOTHING!!

I have just emailed my dentist re my check up early next month and have been told they are not doing routine checkups, and to contact them again for another date, in a month - 6 weeks.   They have cancelled my July appointment.  They have retained my NHS status.....

Quite mambas. I would also have to go anywhere with loads of anti bacterial hand gel ,gloves and face masks . That's without all the washing and wiping down including the dog I do .yes I have lost the plot atm

Another type 2 here, I really want to take River to the beach but being in Derbyshire we’re about as far away from the coast as it’s possible to be in the U.K. and if I can’t have a wee when I get there I’m scuppered!

It’s all very well for River, he just needs a street sign or a lamppost or a clump of grass slightly taller than the rest...

Here's an update on travel to a Shelter ..... I had a call from somebody out there tasked in looking after 'vulnerable' people.   When the Gov. started sending food boxes to the vulnerable, after I'd registered (not realising what registering meant!), we found a box on our doorstep.   We live in a close and I flagged the driver down on the way back, saying thanks but we don't need the box as I'm still able to get out to the supermarket.   That could all change if I can't drive for some reason.  The driver said keep it but he'd take us off the list.  Similar happened the second week but I stopped the actual delivery.

The call was from a nice guy who wantd to make sure we did want to come off the list.  We got to talking about getting a puppy/rescue (as you do!) and I asked him about driving to a Shelter being essential, or no.   He said well getting another dog would help your mental well-being so go for it!!  Oh and I warned him about buying at the moment (not) with the inflated prices.  He understood!

Since that call, as I'm also thinking about buying a younger/smaller car, I spoke to one of our local Peugeot Dealership salesmen and he said it was ok for me to drive up there to see a possible car (and to test drive it on my own).   Would changing my car be 'good for my mental health

The wee issue would still apply as I don't know whether either the Shelter, or the Dealership would have their toilets open?   I'll have to ask.

My husband was in the process of buying a car just as lockdown started.
Car had then remained sitting on forecourt until last week when he was allowed to finish the transaction remain and pick up the car .very annoying but had to be that way to stay within the rules
It was a 25 mile journey each way so no problem once it was released again and had been fully valeted as you would expect so but I still used antibac stuff  on the inside when it came home. Maybe ott but that's me
.new car is   a good thought mamabas if u feel confident going out now with any health issues but .making sure you are safe . At least u can  drive the car without the dealer sitting with you which is better imo    yes and check the toilet situation first such a necessary pain though
