Hi,
My name is John, my family and I are interested in purchasing a Beagle puppy, we would be new to the dog owning circle, but both my wife and I have had dogs around us growing up. We love walks and keeping active and have the time to welcome in a new member to the family. My son who is 10 would really love a dog too, he has been researching for the last 2 years and already has all the kit waiting in his Amazon shopping basket :).
If anybody could offer any advice on how we proceed that would be greatly appreciated, we already have some budgies and they were much simpler to acquire, for now I will keep searching the site for any upcoming litters but if there is anything else that I should be doing, it would be really helpful to get some advice if anybody out there has any, as I say, I have never acquired a puppy before.
Sit looks well run and is helpful
Cheers
John
https://www.champdogs.co.uk/info/puppybuyer this is the place to start then read other posts from those wanting to buy puppies at this time
Unfortunately it is not a good time to buy a puppy prices are going through the roof and many arnt from decent breeders also worh all the restrictions on life trying to buy and bring up a puppy will be very hard a d could well be to the detriment of the puppy as it grows
Please read my comments on the very similar query posted by Lesrob75.

Thanks for this, I anticipated waiting a while for a puppy due to the current circumstances, as it's something we've been considering for a couple of years anyway, a while longer won't hurt. I've been reading some of the other posts and can see how difficult it is currently.
Speaking of prices there seems to be a huge variation, in normal times what would prices range from for beagle puppies?

Thanks for this, I have now made contact with some Beagle breeders local to me from the KC site, hopefully I will get some response and can look to get things moving once the country is back to some form of normality

I've just seen a beagle up for rehoming, if you contact Foxhound Welfare UK they may be able to put you in touch.
I'm afraid I don't breed - too old to keep youngsters!
I would have expected to pay around £1000 in normal times - I haven't asked what the breeders I know will be charging in the future. I would expect a carefully-bred, KC registered puppy, microchipped, and with both parents dna tested for the major health concerns in Beagles - MLS, NCCD, Factor VII, IGS and Lafora. These tests were introduced at different dates, so you may find that an older sire may not have the full set of tests, but for hounds tested under the recently introduced KC bundled test, all of these will be included. (You can find details of these conditions if you Google, Beagle Health, or check the Beagle Club or Beagle Association sites under Health).
The crop of exploiters that are cashing in on the current conditions do not deserve anybody's support. They have no interest in the health or future of the breeds that they are offering - just an opportunity to cash in. Likewise, puppies that sound too cheap signal that they have been indiscriminately bred. Licensing, health costs, and the quality of the food and conditions provided, have to be reflected in the price of a puppy.

I’m not on my laptop, but this is a 14 month old beagle pup from memory, owner is too poorly right now to keep this youngster
If that is Paddy from the West Midlands, it is almost certain that he has a lovely new home.

No, it's not in Foxhound Welfare UK, but I know I saw the lady who runs this rescue, share a post about a 14 month old beagle earlier on FB.

I just trolled the Dogs Trust website and there are quite a number of Beagles on there although it looks as if they are reserved fast. Some are quite young, but not a puppy......? If you have time, it might be worth taking a look.

That's the price I was thinking something between £900-£1500 depending upon the dog. Thanks for the heads up on the testing, this is something that I will certainly check once I find the right dog for us, I am hearing a lot about scams at the moment and it's really awful that people are using the current situation to rip others off, I am happy to wait anyway so will proceed with caution.

Another useful site, as you say all reserved at the moment but I will keep checking, thanks for this :), I don't mind a slightly older dog either.
