For these interested :p Molly has had her op for her soft palette. They took out her tonsils, trimmed her palette and sorted out her nose to help her breath easier and she is fine now and recuperating well. Just have to keep her quiet for a couple of weeks and stop Barney trying to play with her and she with him - easier said than done :) :) So pleased it is all over and hopefully no more choking.

Happy to hear it went well, Gina. Give her a very gentle hug from me! And good luck with keeping her quiet;)

Hi Gina

Glad to hear your liddle'un is ok. Charlies enforced rest is becoming a nightmare - how the heck do you keep a 5 1/2 mth puppy rested!!!!!! Was recommended some 'seren-ums' (?) by an owner who had a similar problem - managed to get some today, so gonna give those a try before Charlie starts climbing the walls (as opposed to just bouncing off them :) )

I hope that from now on you will have plain sailing health wise with Barney and Molly, as you have had the devils own luck, with hisw poor legs and her throat :D

Thanks everyone. She is so much better today - eating everything she can (pulped to a mash) and now she has gone to the loo properly I can see she feels a lot better :)

Hi Nosey :D :D

She choked badly on New Years Eve (no going out that night!) and had done previously. We thought she had swallowed some fur the first time as we had just brushed her but bad attack on NY Eve. Took her to emergency vet who gave her medication to stop it. Found out when we took her to the specialist last Thursday (she had choked again a few days before) that she had enlarged tonsils and her palette was too long. So they operated and took out her tonsils. Common in shih tzu and all dogs with "squashy" faces - sorry cant think of right word :p - Hopefully they have cured the problem and no more choking. Very frightening it was too. She's a bit up and down at the moment but you probably know what a panicker I am :o

Thanks for asking.

Gina :)

Hi Gina. Pleased to hear molly is ok. I think you will have your hands full for a while but I'm sure you don't mind as long as she is going to be well. Every time I have looked at my Cassie I have wondered how your little one has got on. Hope she (and Barney ) have a long and happy life

Thanks you two :) She is so much better now we have to stop her play fighting with Barney. And her appetite - we will have to watch her because she will eat anything now!
