Hi there, I have been a member of Champdogs for a number of years breeding my GSD's. I have recently imported a new breed to the UK, the Rough Coat Dutch Herder / Shepherd. The breed is not recognised by the UK KC but is an FCI recognised breed. I just want to say how helpful Mark Roach of Champdogs has been in setting up the Dutch Herder on the breed register when other so called breeding sites wanted me to list them under Malinois.

Yup!  Definitely one of the good sites. 

You'd have thought the other sites would have been more inclined to list them under Laekenois! Just out of curiosity, have you got show lines or working lines? I have so admired the showline shortcoated Dutch Herders I've seen abroad, but here of course there are only working lines.

The Roughcoat or Ruwhaar doesn't really have that division of show/working because of the limited number there are. There are certainly more being shown than worked but with only 800 - 1000 worldwide it's hard to know exactly what the state of affairs is. I suspect that the truth is most are family pets, some are shown and some are worked (IPO or police). From my litter one is going to a UK police force which is a first, as the UK Kennel Club doesn't recognise the breed they can't be shown.
