hi, I've read the posts on here for many months when I have a particular problem with my dogs, and find everyone so knowledgeable. I have a pregnant bitch of 57 days from first mating. I've been taking her temp now for 7 days twice daily. The reason for this is when I put her in her whelping area of a night she's been panting and breathing really fast. She was 7kg before pregnancy now nearly 11kg so she's finding things pretty difficult. Her temp was 37.8,37.8,37.5,37.8,37.8,37.7 and 37.3!! She has been having a little bit of stringy clear discharge!! My concern is this dip you hear so much about will it go down gradually or a big dip in one reading? She's always been a picky eater so can't go by that if labor is near!! My other bitch had puppies last year I took her temp twice a day and the morning she give birth I took it and it was fine, went to work and got a phonecall off my other half to come home quickly as she had a puppy on the kitchen floor!! No panting, no nesting, no temp drop, no lack of appetite no nothing!! Ive taken annual leave from work so I don't miss it this time and this temperature thing is stressing me out!! Any advise would be totally appreciated

You're looking for a big dip of a degree or two in one go, say from 37.3 to 36 degrees and then it will start to rise again. If you plot all the temperatures on a graph it makes the dip much more obvious.
