I don't know of any websites but the correct way is -as you stand in front of your dog the chain should be in the letter P -that is assuming your dog walks to your left
if it is the other way it will not release

Just for interest, is it for show or general use. If for general use, have you tried a half check before resorting to a check chain? Half check is like a leather collar that doesn't fit all round the neck, with a chain insert that briefly tightens the collar - kinder to the dog and much easier to use.
