Topic Dog Boards / Health / Good reasonably priced vets to sort cherry eye S Wales

Hi, could anyone recommend a good reasonably priced vet to treat cherry eye in both eyes of a bulldog. He’s currently 7 month, but realistically not sure when he can have it done due to the current climate. Would you have an approx idea of cost please? Live in S Wales, Don’t mind travelling.

Many thanks

http://www.bulldogbreedcouncil.co.uk/west-midlands-vets.html#     not your area I know but may be a place to start.
Also the breed club may have knowledge nearer to house

Unfortunately atm it might be tricky to get information given most vets are on a skeleton crew so if it's not an emergency u may have to wait

Tom bingham of walpole vets is often mentioned by those owning bullbreeds as having a special In treatment and is said to be very good. I dont own Bulldogs so dont know personally . No idea of course about costs.
Hopefully your dog is insured which may help

If you know how, it is possible to massage in a Cherry Eye.   How to is on the Internet if you search.    Further, be warned - if this surgery is done, you may be looking at a dry eye situation going on which means giving drops, for life.

I hope, if you want this surgery done, you can find a vet because most are now only taking patients in for an emergency.

Hi, thank you both. I don’t own the dog, it’s one i know of that is not treated the best and will be rehomed. I will try the vets you recommended. I just wondered about costs etc and trying to get my head to rule my heart

These people may also.be worth speaking to as they are a dedicated bulldog rescue and maybe able to.give u some advice.  I would also find out how.much insurance will be.
not.necessarily for.cherry eye if he has already seen a vet about that but for any other underlying conditions. Sadly it is a breed that often suffers from a number of problems
