Has anyone given any thought to how long the shows may be cancelled for, at first I thought restarting around July if lucky maybe Leeds going ahead but looking at the printers websites fossedata, highampress and the rest shows in July and August are starting to be cancelled and the ones who haven't have entries suspended while waiting closer to time while waiting for more information from the government

I know they have to be for a VERY good reason but sitting at home with a puppy who went to crufts as a minor puppy, who lucky qualified there, who was doing well getting points for his junior warrant I am watching the time he has left going by quickly.

There has been no information from the Kennel Club about this at all except for postponed shows well most are not postponing they are cancelling and if they can not rearrange within the twelve weeks deadline the entries will not stand and I presume you have to renter with the new correct classes.

I know it will not be just me but thousands up and down the country in the same position but some information about this for the kennel club would be appreciated.

You are not wrong - most if not all the upcoming show dates on Fossedata/Higham Press show cancelled, going forward.   This is going to hurt the smaller Breed Clubs as so much of their income comes from entries, and sales at the Shows.

Unfortunately we are all in the dark, including the KC, re for how long all this is going to last.   And it's said that relaxing the lock down restrictions can't happen all at once for fear we get spikes of infection again.

All this is unbelieveable.   I think most would be more able to cope if an end was in sight, which it's not.    I don't know about shows and gaining Chs or JWs, but I don't think life as we've known it, will ever be the same as we have to pay back the huge debt the country is building up, to keep people afloat.   Taxation, taxation and more taxation.

I know our club championship dog show is May day weekend has gone, but they hand out the year books out at the show to the members entered it saves a lot of postage costs as you can imagine.

So we are waiting to hear if they will delay the release until the show is rescheduled maybe, or will they post all them out this year, at fifty pounds a page to place an advertisement we are hoping post them as it will give us something to pour over as they list all the top ten dog, bitchs, puppy and the rest as well as all the previous years championship results

Agility shows later than June are also starting to be cancelled but not all yet. We have lost our club show in June. The problem for the organisers is the outlay before the show goes ahead. Venue fees often can't be recouped and many other things have to be paid for early. The clubs probably feel, and quite rightly too, that it is better cancelling early rather than at the last minute if things carry on longer than expected so that less outlay has to be made. My older dog is now ten, she is still fit but I was hoping to give her a final year competing fun courses. As we can no longer even train I will probably have to retire her now as restarting after a few months is probably not a good idea at her age.

That's rather like asking the Government when the virus will be finished and people will stop dying!! No one knows and it is pointless speculating.

I wasn’t under any illusion that River would get JW but I have to admit I’m disappointed that as he’s almost 10 months now we likely won’t have any chance at all. And I do miss showing.

But shows aren’t going to start again for a long time, and for good reason. All we can do is keep enjoying our dogs, keep training them, and keep ourselves and everyone else safe while we wait for all this to blow over.

I was wondering the other day, somewhat morbidly, how the dog world definitely has an older demographic and that we might lose many canine society committee members in this outbreak.
