Different situation to the other person's post.  My papillon bitch started her first season 12 days ago, just 1 day after my daughter brought home an entire male of a different (toy) breed.  I do not intend to breed my girl and will be getting her spayed.  As you can imagine, things are quite difficult at home and stressful for me.  Can I hope that as this is her first season it will not last quite as long as future seasons could last?  She has stopped telling the boy to get lost so I'm having to be ultra careful to keep them apart.  It's driving me nuts and not an ideal situation for the new boy either.

It is irrelevant that its her first season, it will last as long as it lasts. I had a bitch whose first season lasted 5 weeks!!

Oh dear, not what I was hoping to hear.  Never mind, what will be will be.  Thanks.

All seasons last as long as they last, which could be from 21 days to 30 odd, depending on the dog.  21 days is pretty average.  First seasons no different to others in terms of length.

Thank you.  I've only ever had boys before so this is new to me.
